I'm Officially in Christmas Mode…Well maybe not completely in Christmas mode but I am at least in Christmas in July planning for future Christmas decode mode! I am so excited to finally be sharing this because this blog post is a special collaboration with King of Christmas! If you've followed me for any amount of time, you already know that Christmas is hands down my favorite time of year. The second I get the chance to start decorating, I am locked in and the whole house is decorated! This year I'm getting a head start on Christmas while all of the amazing Christmas in July sales are happening. Instead of waiting until November, I'm planning my holiday decor early, choosing my tree now, and gathering inspiration before the busy holiday season arrives. Our new 7.5' King Flock® Slim Artificial Christmas Tree from King of Christmas is officially here, and I couldn't be more excited to start planning how I'll decorate it this year. Today I wanted to share why I chose this tree, how easy it was to assemble, and all of the decorating ideas I'm saving for when Christmas season officially arrives!

Why I Chose King of Christmas

I have been seeing King of Christmas trees all over Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, and YouTube for years. A couple of years ago I worked with King of Christmas for a campaign and did our living room tree and we absolutely loved it! We have had it up for two seasons now and it has just held up so well! Also I am never surprised when I find out someone's gorgeous Christmas tree came from King of Christmas, they are stunning so when the opportunity came up to collaborate with them again, I couldn't say yes fast enough!

One of the biggest things that impressed me right away was the shipping. Their website says delivery takes 1–3 business days, and I can confirm that was exactly our experience. The tree arrived quickly and was packaged really well! Another huge bonus is their 30-day return policy. I feel like buying a Christmas tree is such a big investment, so having the option to return it if it isn't exactly what you're looking for provides a lot of peace of mind. King of Christmas also has a two-year limited warranty, which made me feel even more confident choosing one of their trees!

The Tree We Chose

We went with the 7.5' King Flock® Slim Artificial Christmas Tree (Unlit) and I honestly couldn't have picked a better tree for the space that it was going in! Because this tree is going in our master bedroom, I wanted something that felt elegant and cozy without completely taking over the room. The slim tree is perfect because it fits beautifully while still looking full and luxurious after fluffing! I also love that the flocking gives it that gorgeous fresh snow look and it really just makes everything look more soft, even before adding a single ornament. We also intentionally chose the unlit version this time. We chose the unlit version because I already know I want to use traditional warm white lights when I decorate later this year. I love having the flexibility to choose the finished look of my Christmas trees, and choosing an unlit tree means I'll be able to wrap it with my favorite traditional warm white lights later this year. If you're someone who likes customizing your tree every year, I definitely think an unlit option is worth considering!

Assembly + Putting it Together

One thing I was pleasantly surprised by was how easy this tree was to put together. The process from opening up the box to having it fully assembled and fluffed, took us about 15 minutes! I definitely recruited Dustin to help fluff the branches (because let's be honest...it's always faster with two people!), but the assembly itself couldn't have been simpler. The tree comes in three sections, so putting everything together was really straightforward. Once each section was connected, all that was left was taking the time to fluff each branch until it looked nice and full. When it comes to fluffing, don’t rush the process! It honestly makes one of the biggest differences with how realistic an artificial Christmas tree can look when you take your time doing this. Once each of the branches was spread out, it immediately had that luxurious, high end look that King of Christmas is known for! I honestly love seeing the snowy branches before any decorations are added because you can really appreciate how realistic and full the tree looks! I also think that if you're shopping for a flocked artificial Christmas tree this year, I think you'll be really impressed with how beautiful it looks right out of the box!

My Neutral Boho Christmas Color Palette

Even though I'm not quite ready to decorate for Christmas yet (Florida in July is still giving full summer vibes!), I've already planned exactly how I want this tree to look once the holiday season rolls around. I'm leaning toward a warm neutral boho color palette with burnt orange ornaments, terracotta accents, warm brown ribbon, cream ornaments, natural woven textures, warm white twinkle lights, wooden bead garlands mixed with a pom pom DIY hat garland that Dustin’s mom made me! It’s so cute and I found a tutorial on how to make it so I will link that here! I might make another one this year to have enough to go around the whole tree! Here is the link for the tutorial I found! I also plan to use a creamy knit blanket as the tree skirt because I love the cozy layered look. I love decorating with earthy colors because they feel timeless while still bringing plenty of warmth into a room. Against the snowy flocked branches, I think these colors are going to create such a cozy look. I'm hoping the finished tree feels warm, relaxed, cozy! You can see kind of the vibe I am going for below!

Why I Love a Flocked Christmas Tree

I've always loved flocked trees because they instantly make a room feel cozy. The snowy branches create the perfect backdrop for ornaments and make all of the decorations stand out much more than on a traditional green tree! I also think that a flocked tree creates a softer, neutral look, which makes it easy to decorate with almost any color palette.

Why a Slim Tree Was Perfect for Our Bedroom

One of my favorite features of this tree is that it's slim! Not everyone has room for a huge Christmas tree, and that's exactly why I love this design. I think that a slim Christmas tree is perfect for bedrooms, apartments, smaller living rooms, corners, or offices! It still gives you that magical feel without taking up a ton of floor space.

Why I'm Planning Christmas Early

I know it probably sounds a little crazy to be talking about Christmas in July...But honestly, I think planning ahead has made the holiday season so much less stressful. Instead of trying to buy everything in November when things start to go out of stock before you can make a decision I like that I can start to purchase decorations over the next few months! I also love that planning early like this will let me actually enjoy the decorating process instead of feeling rushed!

My Plan for Decorating a Flocked Christmas Tree

  1. Fluff Every Branch - Don't skip this step. I think fluffing each branch really makes a huge difference in how full the tree looks!

  2. Start with Lights - since ours is unlit, we wrapped traditional warm white lights first before adding anything else!

  3. Hang Larger Ornaments First - I always find it helpful to start with your biggest ornaments before filling in with medium and smaller ornaments!

  4. Mix Different Finishes - I think that combining matte, shiny, textured, and natural ornaments creates a really cohesive look!

  5. Step Back Often - I feel like every few ornaments it helps to step back and look at the tree from different angles to make sure that you aren’t getting too far off from what you want it to look like!

Why Shopping for a Christmas Tree During Christmas in July Is Worth It

If you're someone who waits until November to start thinking about Christmas, you're definitely not alone. That's what we usually did too! But after shopping earlier this year, I honestly understand why so many people take advantage of Christmas in July sales and they often will carry into August as well! One of the biggest benefits that I noticed is seeing the best selection because things aren’t selling out already. I feel like shopping now means you get to have more options than you would later on! I also liked that buying a tree early helped to spread out holiday expenses instead of buying everything at once in November and December. You get to slowly buy things like decorations, ribbon, ornaments, gift wrap, and everything else over the next few months. If you've been wanting to upgrade your Christmas tree this year, I definitely recommend checking out the Christmas in July sales before the busiest shopping season begins.

Even without ornaments our 7.5' King Flock® Slim Artificial Christmas Tree has already exceeded my expectations! The flocking is beautiful, the slim profile fits our bedroom perfectly, and I love that we've gotten a head start while the Christmas in July sales are happening! I'll definitely be sharing the finished tree later this holiday season, but for now I'm excited that I got to start planning all of the little details. If you're thinking about buying a Christmas tree this year, I highly recommend shopping early. It gives you more options, helps spread out holiday spending, and means you'll be ready to decorate the moment Christmas season arrives! What colors are you decorating with this year? If you have absolutely any questions at all feel free to ask me in the comments below or you can email at tarynintotravel@gmail.com and I will get back to you as soon as I can!

Happy Christmas planning!

Emma
