Green Papaya Thai & Sushi Gluten Free Review

Green Papaya Thai & Sushi Gluten Free Review

I think the most trusting thing with having to eat gluten free is my love of sushi and Thai food and how often they put something in a dish that absolutely doesn't need to be in there and then I can’t have it. I do think that places have gotten a lot better about it though. 9/10 they have gluten free soy sauce and don’t add anything to their rice as a binding agent that we can’t have which is so nice! When Dustin and I were in St. Augustine we got on the Find Me Gluten Free app to find Thai food, specifically pad Thai!

We found Green Papaya Thai and Sushi which was a bit away from the center of downtown but only like a 5ish minute drive from our Airbnb. We got in the car headed there and I had the best otoro sushi/nigiri I have ever had {which is saying something because we look for it everywhere we go}!

I started with the spicy California roll! They brought me out gluten free soy sauce to dip my sushi in and I was really happy with the roll! Dustin got some “sushi” but other places I have been they call it nigiri. He liked them all!

After we ordered we both realized that they had otoro as a special on one of their signs by the sushi bar and we each got a piece of that! If you haven’t tried it is a melt in your mouth piece of fish that we look for everywhere we go! It is the “most desirable part of the tunas belly”. So freaking good, you guys have to try it!

Then as our main entree we both got chicken pad Thai and it was a 10/10. I got a spice level 2 and I think I could have done a 3! It had a sweet element to it that I don’t always love in pad Thai but whatever they were using spice wise to balance out the sweet was perfect! Dustin likes really spicy food and he got a 5 which he was happy with!

Here are a couple of screenshots of their menu items! If you click each photo it will take you to their full menu!

We went out looking for really good pad Thai and we seriously found it. If you are local to St. Augustine I 100% recommend you go there. If you are visiting, it is worth the quick drive away from the downtown area to try it! Especially if you like raw fish, it was so so good!
